Health and Wellness
Joni is living her dream!
As a young teenager she wrote in her journal that when she grew up, she wanted to be a Motivational Speaker and a Solid Gold Dancer. As she matured, she sidelined her dream and began a more traditional path. Joni’s been a registered nurse for 25 years with experience in the emergency department, outpatient surgery, clinical nursing education, medical surgical, and cardiovascular nursing. For nine years she served as Supervisor for a hospital medical fitness facility where along with managing staff, programming, and business, she provided health and wellness education, planning programs within a hospital system and throughout her community.
Her "dream job" has occurred slowly but steadily from the seed planted in her teens. She met and fell in love with Zumba in 2006, became a certified Zumba Instructor and began organizing and leading events locally and internationally. For 16 years she has brought people together to share the joy of music, laughter, and community. Solid Gold dancing dream, check!
In 2020 she became a Board-Certified Nurse Coach through the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation and began 1:1 coaching with Cancer patients, Cardiac Rehab graduates and people in all walks of life dealing with stress and overwhelm. In 2021, along with 1:1 and small group coaching, she began presenting to groups, helping people, understand their body-brain connection, sharing tools to regulate their nervous system and manage overwhelm. She now is a keynote speaker and workshop leader. Motivational Speaker dream, check!
Joni continues to grow personally and professionally while coaching and encouraging others. She developed a concept and process called the Self Coaching Circle that she uses to help people understand and calm their nervous system, so they can understand and manage their thought processes to make optimal decisions and experience more joy in their lives. She recently became a Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath certified practitioner through the HeartMath Institute as well as a Certified Cardiovascular Nurse through American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine.
She loves sharing her knowledge, passion, and empowering others to become the best version of themselves. She lives in Stillwater with her husband of 30 years and her teenage daughter. She has 2 grown sons (living in Stillwater) and 2 loving fur babies.
To help people discover the power of awareness, recognize their character strengths, identify their goals, connect with their zest and live a present life with intention and resilience.
I specialize in Inviting Calm and Managing Overwhelm. I help people learn why AND HOW to flip on their parasympathetic nervous system response so they can make an emotional shift.
From a physiologically calm and emotionally balanced state, research shows that we have an increased ability to focus and process information, 40% increase in long term memory, 24% increase in short term memory and an increased ability to self-regulate.
From this relaxed and lifted state, I help people use their MPA, Multiple Perspective Ability, by showing them how to witness and choose thoughts that create authentic feelings that intuitively drive the actions necessary to create the result they are looking for.
This can be better relationships, work life, academic life, sport performance, management of health issues or simply being calmer and more confident in all areas of life. Imagine how you would show up in your life if you were less stressed and more confident on a regular basis?
